Fisher Galleries was established in 1870 in Christchurch, New Zealand. For 140 years and six generations the Fisher name has been at the forefront of the New Zealand Art Market. Including some significant International works of art Fisher Galleries have specialized in selling artworks by New Zealand’s most renowned and sought after artists.
2010 marks the end of an era for Fisher Galleries. Due to the retirement of long time managing director John Fisher and the departure of his eldest son Simon Fisher in 2008 it has been decided that the family business in Christchurch will be closed for the foreseeable future.

Simon Fisher now runs his own and well renowned independent art consultancy business in Auckland. He works with some of New Zealand’s foremost collectors and specializes in sourcing and selling important and highly sought after artists. Michael Fisher is still based in Christchurch and maintains an interest in the fine art market working part-time as a private consultant for corporate and private collectors based in Christchurch.
Both Simon and Michael offer a very discreet and professional service to their clients. If you are a potential seller they can provide you with market valuations and advise on your sale options, for certain artworks they may consider purchasing outright, otherwise they may be able to sell by private treaty.
