Fisher Galleries was established in 1870 in Christchurch, New Zealand, and for 140 years and six generations they were at the forefront of the New Zealand art market. Specialising in the sale of art by New Zealand’s most renowned and sought after artists, they also represented some leading international artists and sourced significant artworks for collectors, both in New Zealand and abroad.
At the end of 2010 Fisher Galleries closed after the devastating earthquakes in Christchurch and the retirement of fifth generation owner and director John Fisher. Previously John's sons, Simon & Michael Fisher decided in 2007 and 2009 respectively to pursue their own business interests. Fortunately John Fisher still has an active and personal interest in the art market and continues to provide advice to clients who are considering or wish buy or sell artworks by prominent New Zealand and international artists. Other services include valuations for insurance, estate or division, appraisals for sale or purchase of art, restoration advice and collection management.
If you are considering selling or buying artworks by historical, modern or contemporary artists contact John Fisher for expert advice with no obligation. You can also click on any of the artist names below to send an email to John if you are potentially interested in buying or selling a work by one of these artists.
